I am participating as a keynote speaker for NFYI’s signature event, Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Day in Washington, DC.
Legislation that Congressmembers propose and vote on have direct, tangible impact on those who are navigating life in real time through those policies and laws.
For those in foster care, these laws determine things like their access to resources, what school they get to stay in, and what happens to them when they age out of the system. Former foster youth's voices need to be elevated and be included as a part of these decisions. Let's listen to the folx with lived experiences before we vote on bills that forever impact their futures.

Are you transracial adoptee or experienced foster care as a person of color? Are you a mother or a parent and find it hard for others to truly relate to your experience as a parent?
As transracial adoptees and/or former fosters, our challenges, emotions, and struggles around being parents have a few more layers that are unseen, and hard to understand by those who do not share our lived experiences.
Do you wish you could have a safe space and talk to someone who understands what you are going through because they have lived it too? I certainly have been searching for this for decades and now am creating this space for us to support one another.
This will be a 60-minute conversation and dialogue, facilitated by me, Grace Yung Foster. I have experienced both foster care and transracial adoption as a person of color. My experience is unique, and so is yours. But, where are our stories in the communities we identify with? Adoption and foster care stories are missing in the popular narratives in our society, and when we do see or hear them, we don't always see ourselves represented.
This event is limited to be a group of up to 20 people, so we can dialogue in an intimate, small-group setting, and there will be breakout sessions so that you can dialogue with even smaller groups for sharing, reflecting, and for supporting each other.
I hope you can join this event, and receive the validation and support that you have deserved as a transracial adoptee or as a former foster youth. I will also be sharing with all of you something exciting that I am building for our specific community.
